While is it important to read nonfiction books to inform yourself about race and race relations, I believe that it is also important to read a bit of fiction as well. Reading stories in which Black people are allowed to just be…live and love without race as a predominant factor is important to me.
I love reading books by the authors I listed above because they have each created a world where Black people, Black Women in particular, are acknowledged and centered. This is not usually the case with regards to most fictional works; specifically science fiction and fantasy stories.
